Treat them like Children: The Rare Political Post

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

I write this because of its pertinence to topics of good and open communication and business strategy. In the Healthcare Summit today, we watched Obama try to engender bipartisanship.  Instead, he gave both “sides” free reign to spout the same old rhetoric.

My take: he should have asked all participants, those on either “side”: What do you — as an individual and as representatives of your constituency — like or object to in this legislation?

Otherwise, it’s like querying a pre-pubescent bible thumper…Do you really know what you’re saying or have free will in your beliefs….or are you just spouting the rote-mastered company line?

Forget the national polls.  If reps and senators can’t speak from their hearts and for the people they represent, government is truly broken and bipartisanship is impossible.
